Trollbox is a chatroom that was released in 2017. It is owned by Jankenpopp and Zombectro, and hosted on WINDOWS93.net. Trollbox's predecessor was Clavardage, which was released in 2014 and got shut down due to a Reddit Hug in 2017.
Rooms are a feature in Trollbox. Rooms can be entered using the /room (or /r) command. Only users in the same room can see each other's messages. The main room in Trollbox is called "atrium".
/exe was a command that let you send WINDOWS93 Terminal commands for other users to try. It was removed in ~2021 following a hacking incident caused by exeCODER that used this command. A while after Trollbox reopened in 2023, Janken re-added /exe, causing many other bad actors to use it maliciously and subsequently getting removed again.
On June 2021, Trollbox, along with two other social WINDOWS93 apps (MySpace93 and Bonzichan) were shut down following a WINDOWS93 data leak, revealing everyone's MySpace93 passwords in plaintext. The Trollbox app previously showed a chatlog of ~ saying "F*** it Dude, let's go bowling." before turning it into a fake website seized by the FBI. Trollbox would be reopened on Christmas of 2023, however other social apps are still down.
rmtrollbox (or RMTB, "rm" stands for "reversed meow"[1]) was a Trollbox clone owned by Khysnik. rmtrollbox was hosted at rmtrollbox.xd4y.zip, until it shut down and displayed a fake website seized by the FBI on March 13, 2026. rmtrollbox is now hosted at trollbox.fun.
tb-fbin is an open-source Trollbox clone made by Dell. Its source can be found at dell-optiplex-790/trollbox on Github. This clone was hosted on fbin.duckdns.org and aims to be as faithful to Trollbox as possible (in its default configuration) while not including the word-bans. The software bundles two clients:
Trollbox (the default client, modified to exclude word-bans)
Trollbox-Electron (patched to not require Electron)
